The gold Britannia was introduced in 1987, and early Britannias, anniversary issues and proofs have become a collecting field of their own. The first generation Britannias of 1987 and 1988 are particularly sought after in top grades.
Certified Britannias are sealed by NGC or PCGS with their grade on the label. Remember that Britannias before 2013 were 22 carat, and from 2013 they have been 999.9 fine, so check which you are buying.
