Who we are

The Gold Merchant is the controller of the personal data described here. Contact us about your data at info@thegoldmerchant.co.uk.

  • Order details: what you asked for, the prices quoted and paid, and our correspondence with you.
  • Identity documents: where we are required to verify identity for anti money laundering purposes.
  • Technical data: basic information your browser sends when you visit, such as device type, used to run and secure the website.

Who we share it with

  • Delivery carriers, so your order can reach you.
  • Our website and account providers, who host the site and store account and order data on our behalf.
  • Payment providers, where relevant to your payment.
  • Authorities, where the law requires it.

We never sell your data. Where a provider processes data outside the UK, we rely on appropriate legal safeguards.

How long we keep it

We keep order and identity records for as long as the law requires, which for anti money laundering records is generally five years after the end of our relationship. Enquiries that do not lead to an order are deleted when no longer needed. You can close your account at any time.

Cookies and storage

We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. Your basket is stored in your own browser so it survives a page refresh, and if you sign in, a secure session is stored so you stay logged in. Live metal prices are fetched from a price feed without sending any personal data.
