About the 2024 Tudor Beasts Seymour Unicorn 1oz Gold Coin
The Royal Tudor Beasts are a series of ten coins inspired by the heraldic statues on the Moat Bridge at Hampton Court Palace, which celebrate the ancestry of Henry VIII and Jane Seymour. The Seymour Unicorn is the fourth release, issued in 2024. The unicorn marks the Seymour family of Jane Seymour, Henry VIII’s third wife and the mother of his only surviving son, Edward VI.
This coin is struck from one troy ounce (31.10 g) of 999.9 fine gold, 32.69 millimetres across, with a face value of one hundred pounds. The reverse is by David Lawrence, who designed the whole series.
Series coins like this one carry a modest premium above a plain Britannia, because collectors want the full set and each design is only issued for a limited period. The gold content is identical. If your aim is simply to own gold at the lowest possible cost, a plain Britannia does that, and we will tell you so.
