About the 1oz Vienna Philharmonic
The Vienna Philharmonic has been struck by the Austrian Mint since 1989 and is consistently among the best selling gold coins in Europe. One troy ounce of 999.9 gold, and unusually wide at 37 millimetres because the coin is thin.
Thomas Pesendorfer designed both faces: the great organ of the Musikverein concert hall on one side, and a gathering of orchestral instruments on the other. Since 2002 it has been denominated in euros.
It trades on a low premium and sells easily across Europe. For a UK buyer, as with any foreign coin, there is no Capital Gains Tax exemption.

Questions people ask
Is this investment gold?
Yes. It is struck from 999.9 fine gold, which meets the HMRC definition of investment gold.
Does it carry VAT?
No. Investment gold is exempt from VAT in the UK, so the price you see is the price.
Is it Capital Gains Tax exempt?
No. It is not UK legal tender, so it does not carry the exemption that a sovereign or a Britannia does.
How is it supplied?
In a protective capsule, sent in discreet packaging that says nothing about what is inside.
What if the price moves before I pay?
The price on this page is the metal at this moment. When you send us your order we confirm the final figure with you and hold it while you pay, so you are never charged a number you have not seen.
Will I get the exact coin in the photograph?
Not necessarily. Coins are supplied in mixed years unless you ask for a particular one. The specification is the same either way.
